My Weekend

This weekend I:

Made my first Adult Cape!

Went on an impromptu trip to Newtown with the husband and his sister - had a lovely lunch, shopped up King Street and ended up at the Finders Keepers markets - the most amazing thing was that the girls were well behaved...I never thought I could do Newtown with 3 littlies (ours and our nephew)...by the time we got to Finders Keepers Amelie was fast asleep in the pram and we had some afternoon tea before hitting the markets. Above (and below) are the goodies I picked up on the day...$10 top goodness! And I finally went into the awesome button shop...not pictured is Amelie's choice of button which was a little pink paint tube.

I also received the most tragic news that a friend I used to work with passed away on the weekend after giving birth to identical twin girls. She was such a lovely person and what she wanted most in life was to have a family. She also has a son who is just one. I am absolutely floored by this news and am devastated that she cannot be with her beautiful children as they grow up. I am sure her spirit will not be leaving their side!

So please hold your littles ones that much tighter and enjoy all the special moments as much as you can for those who can't. Go and give someone you love a cuddle and let them know how much they mean to you!

And finally a bittersweet moment in the sadness: Amelie gave me cuddles and consolled me saying 'it's alright we'll get you home' and 'it's alright, do you want a treat?'

The Red Shoes Ballet Tote Bag

Last week I finished the Red Shoes Ballet Tote Bag from my previous giveaway and sent it out into the world!

I was very happy with it, simple but beautiful!

I have added it to my SHOP if it takes the eye of any ballerinas - or ballerinas at heart (like me)!

Green

As part of my employers rebranding they were giving out pots of our new company colour...I jumped at the chance as I have been wanting to paint up some board for portraits and product photos but have not had the chance to go to a paint shop!

During the week I painted up the board and on the weekend Amelie and I had a little photo shoot. I love some of the images and Amelie loved the enducement...probably the biggest lollypop she has ever seen!

The dress is a Christening gown I made in high school and have been holding onto for my children's Christenings...naturally is was too big for them and Andy's family has a lovely gown that all his siblings (bar one twin) have been Christened in and we used that.

Amelie spied the dress in the cupboard a few weeks ago and asked to wear it...I told her it wouldn't fit but lo and behold it did and she felt like a princess!

Lois Lane meets Wednesday Addams

I finally finished this dress I have had lying around my workroom for a while...

I Love: The collar, the Lois Lane and Wednesday Addams vibe, the length, the comfort factor, and the something new to wear to work!

I Hate: My little tummy popping out (must wear a strong pair of stockings with this bad boy!), the fact that the top of the back is 1/4 inch out of alignment and the way the stretch fabric has puckered at the hem (causing a nice little wave around the bottom)!

Cue fabric from Tessuti...$10 a meter...AWESOME...my fabric test was to squash it in store to see if it work require much ironing...it bounced back and passed the test!

Clementine's Alice Tea Party

This weekend we celebrated Clementine's first birthday with an Alice Tea Party - her dress was inspired by Tim Burton's Alice Costume which we were lucky enough to see in person and to meet Tim Burton last year! There she is hiding in the sling!

The Birthday Girl

The Dress - Front

The Dress - Back

This was the best shot I could get of her wearing the dress!

Her big sister as the traditional Alice 'helping' her open her presents!

Silhouettes of Clementine

I used smaller silhouettes and doilies on the party bags!

The Party Table

The outdoor party set-up

Yummy goodness!

Some Martha Pom Poms...

and I finally 'mastered' the cake ball...well almost...there were much improved and had many more takers!

The Birthday Cake! I made a blue (dark green-blue) velvet cake with cream cheese icing...she almost looks like she is falling down the rabbit hole..she just needs a mini fan on her hair!

My ideas and inspiration came from:

Clementine and Amelie 2011

The year has just flown by! It's amazing how when you are young life is in slow motion and now we are grown up it's on fast forward! I just need to put it on pause for a bit and enjoy where we are at - sitting in the grass watching Flute run around the garden!

Covered Button Hair Clips

I have been using some of my best fabric scraps to make covered button hair clips.

I have been popping them into my orders as I post them because there is nothing I love more than getting a little surprise!

Interesting Tales....
